India
India a country with a population of about 1.339 billion. Needless to say the quality of is very important since the country takes up about ⅛ of the world’s population. I will be focusing on 5 different arias of development in India. India has a Human Development Index (HDI) of 129
The arias are education, poverty, infrastructure, clean water, and health cair. Education is a crucial part of fixing all the problems in the world. If a population is not educated then there is no way for people to overcome adversity. Over 265 million children are not enrolled in a school. According to just a quick google search of the population in India from 2010 to 2017, the population increased from 1.053 billion to 1.339 billion. That means there were 286 million children that were born
Education in India has increased by .216 from 1990 to 2018. In 2018 it was at .647 witch, in my opinion, is a very good increase in education. With this education rate, we have a huge amount of children that are not educated. This is important due to how large the population of India is.
With regard to poverty interestingly the population is .647 (its weird because it is the same number as education)(http://hdr.undp.org/en/data). The GDP per capita for India is $7,200 (2017 est.)
It is ranked 156 in the world (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/in.html)
In 2012 the poverty line for India was 1.91(https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/national-poverty-lines-vs-gdp-per-capita?country=AGO+IND).With regard to infrastructure, India is doing quite well
It is ranked 44th out of 167 countries. India has some notable achievements like having a large public transportation system, reducing the Energy deficit reduced to 0.7 percent, and increasing the number of airports (https://www.ibef.org/industry/infrastructure-sector-india.aspx). Clean water and sanitation is very important to the quality of life. It helps stop desire and dehydration from being a factor of premature death. The percent of the population that has had their access to water improve is urban: 97.1% of the population, rural: 92.6% of the population, and total: 94.1% of the population.
With regard to sanitation the stats are urban: 62.6% of the population (2015 est.) rural: 28.5% of, population (2015 est.), and total: 39.6% of population (2015 est.)(https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/in.html). With regard to health, India is not the best. It is ranked 3rd with regard to people living with HIV/AIDS and 2nd with regard to HIV/AIDS death. The risk of major infectious disease is very high and consists of bacterial diarrhea, hepatitis A and E, typhoid fever, dengue fever, Japanese encephalitis, malaria, leptospirosis, and rabies.
